Building off the success of “Tapestry” in 2023, and “Tapestry: Threads” in 2024 – join the West City Concert Band (and some guest artists) on another journey to discover some of the vibrant musical traditions that thrive in our own backyard and how intersections with other cultures can create something truly special. Join the Waitakere Voices as they explore music that is heard as something more than its surface suggests.
Across different genres, cultures, and eras, songs often gather meanings beyond what was originally written. Some become symbols. Some are reinterpreted over time. Some are misunderstood or debated. Others are reshaped by listeners, history, or culture. And we ask the question: what happens to music once it leaves the composer’s hands? In the space between what is written and what is heard.
